2007 Individual Award for
Service:
Rosie Seikel
Rosie Seikel is our Guardian Angel Volunteer of the YEAR. She worked for months custom designing, sewing and fitting TWO Elvis costumes (we have two residents that are absolutely CRAZY for Elvis). It was a daunting task and her effort was so full of love it practically made all our caregivers tear up in pride and compassion to see the smile on Milan’s face and the joy in his heart as he ran all over the Center showing everyone his new Elvis clothes. It began innocently enough last November during our benefit concert at Christ the King Catholic Church in Oklahoma City. Our residents amazed and enightened guests through the CFL handbell choir and rhythm band. And for an added bonus, we rented Milan an Elvis costume so he could make his dream come true doing his impersonation of Elvis’ “Hound Dog”. It was an absolute showstopper! But Milan was left so empty and alone when we had to take his costume back....we decided to see if we could find someone capable of sewing him a costume like the rental. Out of nowhere, Rosie came shining through to save the day and fill a permanent hole in Milan’s life. And boy can she sew! This is the EXACT replica of the clothes Elvis wore during his “Blue Hawaii” concert televised for all the world. The costume is breathtaking, and we thank, Thank, THANK her for all her time and efforts. Our hats off to you, Rosie!!!! Look for ELVIS coming soon...
